Fusidin is steroidal antibiotic. Fusidin used in the treatment of primary and secondary skin infection caused by susceptible organisms. Sodium fusidate is an antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by a type of bacteria known as staphylococci. It works by preventing these bacteria from producing proteins essential to the cell. Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers. Sodium fusidate can penetrate tissues well, so it is often used in infections of the bone (osteomyelitis) and heart, caused by staphylococci.
